The brief
Ryan Deakin is a folk singer, animator and visual artist based in Warrington, Cheshire. He needed a fun, bold and quirky musician website that felt personal and energetic, matched his creative style and brought every part of his work together in one place, from his music to his illustration and animation.
What I built
I designed and built a Squarespace website with embedded music players from Spotify, Apple Music, Bandcamp and YouTube, so visitors can listen to Ryan's tracks on whichever platform they prefer. A custom-coded countdown timer promotes upcoming gigs and live events, giving the homepage a dynamic focal point that changes with every new date.
A dedicated page showcases his illustration and animation work, including album artwork, where visitors can view his visuals and play the related tracks directly on the page. An About section tells Ryan's story, and a contact form makes it easy for fans, venues and collaborators to get in touch.
The approach
Using Ryan's existing branding, including his logo, colour palette and fonts, I created a cohesive layout that feels unique and unmistakably him. Rather than a standard musician template, the design leans into his playful personality with bold colour and quirky details, while keeping navigation simple so visitors can move easily between listening, watching and exploring his art. Custom CSS brings the interactive elements together and keeps everything polished across all screen sizes.
The result
A lively, interactive portfolio website that gives equal weight to Ryan's music and artistic work. Visitors can explore, listen and connect in one place, and Ryan has a home online that's as creative as the work he makes.
